This guide walks you through the first steps of setting up your organization in AmpliPhi by adding your first datasource and creating your first channel. This guide is intended for onboarding organizations.

If you need to add an additional datasource or more information about channels, you can visit the datasources page or the channels page.

Add Your First Datasource

A Datasource provides the data needed to define your future channels and segmentations. Datasources are connected directly to your CRM. In this guide, you will add a Raiser's Edge datasource.

Important:

Before moving forward, you must install the AmpliPhi Segment App from the Blackbaud Marketplace. Click Connect and follow the instructions. Also ensure that your account has the required permissions for Raiser’s Edge NXT (Read, Write, and Delete) in order to use AmpliPhi to its full capability.

To add your first datasource:

  1. Search for Raiser's Edge NXT

  2. Click the Connect button.

  3. Follow the instructions on the Blackbaud authorization page and complete the connection.

Once successfully connected, the Connect button will update to Connected.

Create Your First Channel

Channels define how you communicate with constituents, such as Mail, Phone, or Email. Their goal is to build a pool of constituents that prefers a specific communication channel.

To create your first channel:

  1. Click on the + Add a Channel box.

  2. Select a channel type (Mail, Phone or Email).

  3. Choose a name for your channel by editing the label. By default, the label is pre-filled with the channel type.

Channels requires Inclusions and/or Exclusions to define which constituents belong to it — but because of the complexity, we'll explain what they are first.

Inclusions and Exclusions

Inclusions and Exclusions are made of lists of constituents. Constituents that are in Inclusions will be added to a pool of constituents — while constituents in Exclusions will remove anyone from the pool.

Adding Your First Inclusion and Exclusion

To add an Inclusion:

  1. Click on the + Add Inclusion. A list of constituent queries from your datasource will appear.

  2. Select a constituent query that matches the chosen channel type.

  3. (Optional) To exclude certain constituents, select a query as an Exclusion.

Info:

Loading queries for the first time can take a few minutes. This is normal.

Once ready, click Confirm to create the channel.
