Channels define communication groups such as Mail, Phone or Email. Each channel represents a pool of constituents who prefer a specific way of being reached. Channels are designed to be independent from segmentations so they can be reused across multiple campaigns.
Inclusions and Exclusions
Channels are defined by two components: Inclusions and Exclusions. Both are lists of constituents, but they affect the Channel’s pool in opposite ways.
Inclusions adds constituents to the channel’s pool.
Exclusions remove constituents from it — even if they appear in an Inclusion.
In other words, Inclusions bring constituents into a channel, while Exclusions ensure specific constituents are kept out.
Calculations
When a channel is created or updated, AmpliPhi runs calculations to determine how many constituents belong to the channel.
Refresh Calculation
If the data in your datasource changes (for example, updated constituent lists), you can manually refresh a channel’s calculation. To do this, go to the Channels page and click the Recalculate button.
Channel Duplication
If you need a channel similar to an existing one, you can duplicate it. Use the Duplicate option in the channel’s dropdown menu. The new channel will be created with “- Copy” appended to its label.
Role In a Campaign
Within a campaign, channels are used alongside segmentations. They determine which constituents in each segment should be reached through a specific communication type (Mail, Phone, or Email).
By keeping channels and segmentations separate, the same channels can be reused across multiple campaigns.
